Let's be honest -Netanyahu started the Iran War
Trump was just too stupid and got conned.
Trump said it almost immediately after he started the United States side of the war against Iran. He had talked to Netanyahu, and there was the opportunity to take out the top leadership of Iran with an airstrike, and Trump fell for it. It was too good to pass up.
Netanyahu had also been lobbying Trump about Iran having a nuclear weapon. It was just like Donald Trump's constant it'll happen in two weeks excuse or claim. Netanyahu has been claiming for three decades that Iran was weeks away from getting a nuclear weapon. Since joining the war of choice, Donald Trump has repeatedly said that Iran was going to have a nuclear weapon in two weeks.

In 2012, Netanyahu claimed at the United Nations that Iran was going to have 90% enriched uranium by the summer of 2012. That's the literal red line he drew on his graphic for the uranium enrichment needed to make a nuclear weapon.
Bear in mind that none of the United States intelligence agencies said Iran was developing a nuclear weapon. The old Khamenei had issued a fatwa, a religious edict, that Iran would never develop or acquire a nuclear weapon. That's from the Supreme Leader of the country, and he would have been exceedingly angry if the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had tried to do anything different. Heads would have rolled.
The new Khamenei might have a change of heart and now say that Iran should develop a nuclear weapon as a deterrent from being attacked again. Thank you, Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump, for making the world less safe. Russia and China might decide to help out. China could throw that in Trump's face during his trip to meet with Xi Jinping.
Netanyahu was worried that the war against Hamas in Gaza might end. He had been using that as a regular excuse to skip out of his corruption trial, which would put an end to his political career, and might land him in jail. He became limited in where he could travel because of his arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court for genocide in Gaza. The United States doesn't recognize the ICC, so it's no problem for Netanyahu to visit the White House. He even gets to talk to a joint session of Congress, unlike the leaders of almost any other country. King Charles just spoke, but that was for a special reason with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The people of Israel support a continued war against Iran by 78%. There are many also who protest this new war along with the war in Gaza, and the attacks on Lebanon. But, they didn't start the war, Benjamin Netanyahu did, and now they find themselves swept up in fearing the existential threat of Iran.
The Strait of Hormuz is still closed. Iran wants to charge a toll for ships passing through the Strait. They also want to control the data cables on the bottom of the waterway. They want to handle the maintenance, which means they could tap into the cables and know everything that's going on between countries and people. Financial transactions, government secrets and more.
Benjamin Netanyahu was already a war criminal by his actions in Gaza and the Palestinian territories. He has made himself one again. Conning Donald Trump into fighting a war the United States didn't need, on a premise that didn't exist, was way too easy for Netanyahu.
